State owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) awarded on Thursday five contracts to build line network that will transmit power from new power plants that are to be built under the governments’ fast track 10,000 MW program.

Contractors will connect five planned coal-fired power plants that are scheduled to come into operation in 2009, PLN’s Director of Transmission and Distribution Herman Darnel Ibrahim said.

The contracts were awarded to PT Modaco Enersys, PT Modern Surya Jaya Konstruksi, PT Tehate Putra Tunggal,  the consortium of PT Citicon Adinugraha and PT Kencana Alam Putra, and the consortium of PT Meta Epsi and PT Dalima Arya.

Modaco Enersys will build a 500/150 kilovolt transmission line for Suralaya Baru under a contract worth Rp 18.86 billion. Modern Surya Jaya Konstruksi will build a transmission line for Jatim 3 (Tanjung Awar-Awar) power plant under a contract worth Rp 79.49 billion. Tehate Putra Tunggal will build a transmission line for the Jabar 2 (Pelabuhan Ratu) power plant under a contract worth Rp 216.92 billion. The Citicon Adinugraha-Kencana Alam Putra consortium will build a transmission line for the Jateng 1 (Rembang) power plant under a contract worth Rp 141.26 billion. The transmission lines are expected to be completed in between 16 and 20 months, Herman said.

The power plants are part of the program launched by the government to add 10,000 MW to the national power supplies over the next three years.

Also on Thursday, PLN signed a contract with PT Centra Multielektrindo to construct a 150-kilovolt line to strengthen the electricity connection between Java and neighboring Madura islands. The contract is valued at Rp 210 billion. (Godang)
