PLN back in the black in 2009

State electricity firm PT PLN (Persero) reported on Tuesday audited net profit after tax of Rp10.35 trillion (US$=Rp.9, 020) in 2009, a whopping jump compared to Rp12.30 trillion loss the Company posted the previous year.
The increase in profit was mainly attributed to significant decrease in fuel and lube oil costs that decreased to Rp76 trillion from Rp107.7 trillion a year ago.
The Company?s revenue from electricity sales increased to Rp.90 trillion from Rp.84 trillion while subsided received from the government decreased to Rp53.7 trillion from Rp78.6 trillion, making overall revenue decreased to Rp145 trillion from Rp164 trillion. (alex)
