PLN, Bank Kaltim sign Rp 2t syndicated loan for E. Kalimantan power plant

State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday for a Rp 2 trillion (1US$= Rp 11,400) syndicated loan with a local bank Bank Kaltim to finance a 2 x 100 MW coal-fired plant in Muara Jawa, East Kalimantan, Kaltim Post reported
The power plant is scheduled to start operations in 2011, Fachmi Mochtar, PLN?s president director said
Fahmi said in March 2009 that the Muara Jawa power project is currently under study. The project may cost about Rp 2.58 trillion and construction is expected to start in 2011
In addition to this project, a number of independent power producers have planned also to build power plants in the province including PLTU Kaltim (a coal fired power plant with 2 x 100 MW capacity), PLTG Senipah (gas-fired, 2 x 40 MW), PLTG Sembera (gas-fired, 2 x 20 MW) and PLTU Kaltim Infrastructure (coal-fired, 2 x 100).
