?The project is to provide 1,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity for Singapore. If we win the bid, we?ll build a power plant in Batam and sell it to Singapore through a submarine transmission,? PLN Batam President Director Dadan Koernadipura said in Jakarta on Friday.
He said the bid would be organized next year by Singapore?s Energy Market Authority. Besides PLN Batam, many companies from other countries in the region are also interested to join in the bidding.
?We?re now working on a proposal to win the tender next year,? he was quoted by Jakarta Globe.
PLN Batam earlier said that for the next five years, it needed Rp 6 trillion to finance its power projects, including a 2 x 55 MW coal-fired power plant (PLTU) and a 120 MW gas-fueled power plant (PLTG), which will be built in 2013, and another steam power plant and gas-fired power plant that will be built in 2015.(*)
