PLN Batubara to start coal production in Sorong

PT PLN Batubara is planning to start coal production from its concession in Sorong, West Papua next month.

Ahmad Saleh, Operation Director of PT PLN Batubara told Petromindo.com the coal will be supplied to several small coal fired power plants in eastern Indonesia, which are expected to start operation in the coming months.

"We plan to start coal production from Megapura Prima Industri concession in October," he said adding that the coal will be distributed to the power plants located in Ambon, Maluku; Jayapura and Timika, both in Papua. The coal to be produced has a CV of 3,800 GAR. He, however, didn't disclose the volume of the production.
