State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has started construction of a 500 kV extra high voltage substation (GITET) with transformer capacity of 1,000 MVA at Cibatu Baru in Bekasi, West Java Province.
PLN Business Director of Central Part of Java Region, Amir Rosidin told Petromindo.com on Wednesday that the new transformer will facilitate electricity supply to industrial zone in the area specifically Greenland International Industrial Center owned by a company called PT Prudelta Lestari.
He added that aside from being near the electricity load center of the industrial zone, the location of the substation is also close with the high voltage 500 kV transmission line for the 2x1,000 MW PLTU coal-fired power plant project currently being developed in Indramayu, West Java.
?We?ll support the reviving investment in West Java. Aside from supplying electricity for industrial zone. The GITET Cibatu Baru will later strengthen the Java-Bali electricity system,? Amir said.
