PLN begins construction of Lengkong substation, operation of other facilities

Construction of the Lengkong extra high voltage substation (or better known here as GITET) started on Friday with a ground-breaking ceremony led by Murtaqi Syamsuddin, Director of western Java region at state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.

PLN said in a statement that the 500 kv GITET project, located in Lengkong, Cisauk District, Tangerang Regency, Banten Province, is being developed by a company called PT Perfect Circle Engineering, and is expected to be completed in early 2018.

The Lengkong GITET project with capacity of 2x500 MVA forms part of six GITET being developed under the Looping Jakarta project, which aimed at bolstering power supply reliability in Jakarta and Banten provinces. The six includes GITET Kembangan, GITET Duri Kosambi, GITET Muara Karang, GITET Priok, and GITET Muara Tawar.

Elsewhere, PLN said in a statement that Murtaqi also inaugurated the operation of 18 bay capacitors with total capacity of 825 MVAR worth about Rp 68 billion; 24 substations and transformers, and six transmission lines.

PLN also inaugurated the construction of other facilities including substations and transmission lines.
