PLN begins operation of coal-fired power plant in S. Sulawesi

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has officially started operation of the first unit of the 2x100 MW PLTU Punagaya coal-fired power plant in Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi, with the handing over of the plant on Thursday to the PLN Sulselrabar Regional Office, which oversees the company?s operations in South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and West Sulawesi provinces.

The handing over ceremony was among others attended by PLN Director of Business for Sulawesi Region, Syamsul Huda. ?I hope the second unit can be completed in early February (2018),? he said in his remarks as quoted by local news portal Tribun-Timur.com.

PLN completed construction of the first unit of the PLTU Punagaya in late November. (*)
