PLN books Rp4.78t net profit during H1

State utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) announced that it managed to book a net profit of Rp 4.78 trillion during the first half of this year, as compared to Rp 4.75 trillion during the same period last year.

The increase was resulted from the non-cash exchange rate gains at Rp 7.7 trillion, although its interest and financial payments increased to Rp 2.3 trillion, and tax payments to Rp 1,6 trillion. Its EBITDA increased by 10.1 percent to Rp 30.4 trillion during the first half, from Rp. 27,6 trillion during the same period last year. Its operational profit during the first half increased by Rp 1.9 trillion or 11.5 percent from Rp. 16.5 trillion to Rp 18.4 trillion.

The company said in a press statement on Thursday that the exchange rate balance at Rp 7.7 trillion was resulted from the appreciation of rupiah against yen at 10.4 percent, although rupiah rate against US dollar dropped by 2.7 percent during the first half of this year. During the previous period, rupiah rates against yen and US dollar dropped, respectively by 2.4 percent and 4.5 percent.

During the first half this year, the company?s operational income increased by 4.8 percent to Rp 116.7 trillion, as compared to Rp 111.4 trillion during the same period last year. It was resulted from the increase of total power sales due to the increase of both customers and tariff of power.

Its operational cost during the first half amounted to Rp 98,3 trillion, an increase of 3.6 percent as compared to Rp 94.9 trillion during the same period last year. It was due to the increase of oil fuel consumption and lubricants.

As of 30th June 2013, its total assets amounted to Rp 553.8 trillion, an increase of Rp 13.1 trillion (2.4 percent) from Rp 540.7 trillion on 31st December 2012. Its non-current assets increased by 2.6 percent to Rp 484.6 trillion, as compared to Rp 472.1 trillion recorded on 31st December 2012. The increase was resulted from the investments on several ongoing projects of power plants and power transmission. Its current assets increased by 0.9 percent to Rp 69.2 trillion as of 30th June 2013, as compared to Rp 68.6 trillion on 31st December 2012.
