State power firm PLN has agreed to buy natural gas from Anglo-American energy firm BP PLC for US$2.65 per million British thermal unit (MMBTU), a PLN official told Petromindo.com Tuesday.
The two parties expect to sign gas sales and purchase agreement (SPA) next month, PLN?s commercial director Ali Herman said. The SPA signing was initially planned for Nov. 17.
Ali said both parties had agreed that BP will transmit a total of 120 MMSCFD of gas to both PLN?s Muara Karang power plant in West Java and Tanjung Priok power plant in North Jakarta, which have the power generation capacity of 780 megawatts (MW) and 1,000 MW, respectively. The gas will come from BP?s Offshore Northwest Java Block.
Ali gave no clear reason for the delay in the SPA signing. (Godang)
