State utility PT PLN will buy 22 Megawatt (MW) excess power from PT Kertas Kraft Aceh (KKA), which operates a steam power plant in Lhokseumawe, Nangroe Aceh Darussalam.

The power purchase plan is based on a memorandum of understanding on cooperation to operate power generation facility for Lhokseumawe signed by PLN President Director Nur Pamudji and PT KKA President Director Abdul Aziz Pazsa at the PLN headquarters in Jakarta on Monday.

The signing ceremony was also attended by PLN Asset Management Director Boyke Mukiyat, and PLN Western Indonesian Operation Director Moch Harry Jaya Pahlawan.

The excess power will be supplied from a steam turbine power plant owned and operated by PT KKA. The steam turbine generator, made by GE, has a total generation capacity of 2 x 18 MW.
