State owned electriicty firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) will temporarily get more power supplies from PT Cikarang Listrindo to cope with shortage in Jakarta as a result of the fire that burned down its switching center in Cawang, East Jakarta.
Both firms have agreed on the price of the power, Kontan reported on Friday.
"Until now, Cikarang supplies 20 MW. Due to emergency, we negotiated for a supply of up to 100 MW at a similar contract price with the existing one, that is 4.2 US cents," PLN's President Director Fahmi Mochtar was quoted by the newspaper as saying.
PLN will also optimize the operations of its combined cycle power plants in Jakarta, that is PLTGU Tanjung Priok and PLTGU Muara Karang, to cope with the power shortage. Jakarta has a 150 MW deficit of power supply at present following the fire that burned down its Cawang switching center. The firm is seeking new equipment to replace the ones burned down during the incident. (*)
