State electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has awarded a spot contract to PT Matahari Anugerah Perkasa (MAP) and PT Mitra Unggul Abadi (MUA) to supply a total of 160,000 tons of coal to its Labuan, Suralaya Baru and Indramayu power plants in Banten and West Java, respectively.

PLN?s primary director told Petromindo.com on Wednesday that both suppliers would each supply 80,000 tons of coal at the price range Rp 490,000-500,000 (1US$ = Rp9,000) per ton.

He did not mention weather the price is set on FOB or CIF basis but in tender announcement last month PLN said that the price was set on CIF basis, excluding government?s royalty.

Shipment is expected to last from Aug. 22 through Sept. 30, this year.

Actually, PLN put a total of 200,000 tons in the tender, but 40,000 tons of the volume failed to have a winner, he said without giving details. (bernard)
