State owned utility firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) claims it is capable of supplying electricity to mineral processing and smelting facilities planned to be built across the country.
?We have agreed on it, which means we are able to supply power to the smelters,? President Director Nur Pamudji said after a seminar on future energy gas organized by Social Justice Party (PKS) in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Nur added that the company has so far received 8 proposals from mineral companies requesting electricity supply for their smelters.
As requested by government regulations, mineral producers in Indonesia are planning to build smelter to process their mineral ores. The Office of Coordinating Minister for the Economy has said that at least 27 smelters will be built in the country in the next several years.
