PLN, Chengda in talks to expand Cilacap power plant

State electricity firm PT. PLN it was in talks with a Chinese company to expand capacity of Cilacap coal-fired power plant by another 600 MW, company?s top official said Thursday.

PLN president Eddie Widiono said during parliamentary hearing that talks with Chengda Engineering Corp. had been advancing and decision was expected soon.

Eddie said that the capacity addition would cost around US$ 500 million.

PLN and Chengda is currently in the process of constructing 2x300 MW coal-fired power plant in Cilacap. The plant is expected to be completed in 2006. (godang)
