State-owned electricity company PT PLN said that construction of the 150 Kv power transmission line project on Bangka Island in Bangka Belitung Province has reached 80 percent of the targeted works.
PLN Director of Construction Nasri Sebayang was quoted by Antara as saying that land acquisition process that needs to be completed only covers the remaining 57 ?points? of the total 410 ?points.?
He said that the new transmission line would bolster power supply reliability in Bangka Belitung particularly Bangka Island where it is still using the 20 Kv transmission.
Nasri said that in the future, PLN plans to build an interconnection system between Bangka Belitung and Sumatra Island linking Tanjung Siapi-Api in the latter island and Bangka Island via 150 Kv under sea cable.
The interconnection system would allow the supply of about 200 MW of electricity from Sumatra to Bangka Belitung. (*)
