State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said that the result of tender for the supply of 7 million tons per annum of coal to the 2x1,000 MW PLTU Jawa 7 coal-fired power plant in Banten is expected to be announced this month.

This was said by Head of Coal Division at PLN, Harlen to Petromindo.com last week. ?The tender is still in progress. The PLTU Jawa 7 will need 7 million tons (of coal per year),? he said on the sidelines of the 4th Annual Coal Buyers and Producers Meeting held by this portal. No further details were provided.

China Shenhua Energy Company Ltd is teaming up with PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of PLN, in developing the estimated US$2 billion power plant in Serang, Banten. China Shenhua holds a 70 percent stake in the project, while PJB holds the remainder. The joint venture signed late last year a power purchase agreement with PLN for the supply of electricity from the power plant to the latter. The power plant project is targeted to be completed in 2019.
