State-owned electricity company PT PLN said it has completed the Kota Agung electrical substation to help improve power supply to consumers particularly in Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province.

PLN said in a statement Sunday that the operation of the Kota Agung substation will help improve power voltage in the Kota Agung area from average 13.3 kV to an average of 18.7 kV.

This will also help increase PLN?s capacity in supplying power to villages in region including to local industrial customers. ?We expect the operation of the new electrical substation will increase electrification ratio and increase industry growth in Lampung,? said PLN Senior Manager for Public Relations, Agung Murdifi.

Peak load in Kota Agung region from 20 districts and 302 villages stands at 8.56 MW. The electricity supply comes from the 2x14 MW Batu Tegi PLTA hydro power plant.

Until 2019, PLN said it plans to develop several new substations and transmission lines in Lampung to help improve power supply in the province.
