PLN completes Samarinda-Bontang overhead transmission grid

State-owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has finally completed the Samarinda-Bontang overhead crossing 150 kV high voltage aerial cable in East Kalimantan following lengthy delay, the local Kaltim Post daily reported on Wednesday.

The paper said that the transmission facility, which was completed in June, would allow the interconnection of excess power in Bontang with the Mahakam Electricity System in Kalimantan.

Quoting Agus Risfian Noor, a PLN Manager in Kalimantan, the project started construction in 2009, but had suffered delays due to land acquisition problem.

The project comprises of the development of 90 Km transmission line and 241 power towers. (*)
