PLN completes two new MPPs in Bangka Belitung

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said that Bangka Belitung Province has now enjoyed electricity surplus following the completion of the 2x25 MW mobile power plant (MPP) in Air Anyir, and 1x25 MW MPP in Suge, as well as 150 kV transmission lines linking Pangkalpinang and Kelapa, and Pangkalpinang and Koba.
PLN said in a statement obtained Wednesday that the electricity surplus should bode well for Bangka Belitung in its efforts to lure fresh investment.
The state utility said that installed power capacity in the Bangka system currently stands at 163.9 MW compared to peak load of 120.4 MW, while installed capacity in the Belitung system stands at 63.2 MW compared to peak load of 36.7 MW.
PLN said that last year it provided electricity supply for 748 new customers including business and industry. This year, the company plans to have another 1,274 new customers from the business and industry categories.
