State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said it has completed construction of two 150 kV substations called GI Ngabang and GI Tayan, each with capacity of 30 MVA, in West Kalimantan, but have yet to start operation pending completion of the transmission lines.
PLN Business Director for Kalimantan Region, Djoko R. Abumanan, said that the two substations were completed in June, while the required transmission lines are currently being installed.
?The installation of the transmission lines had been hampered by land acquisition problem particularly relating to compensation, but has now been resolved. The towers have been installed, and wire stringing of the transmission line is in progress,? he said.
Djoko said that transmission lines will be developed linking Siantan and Tayan totaling 184 km circuit, and from Bengkayang to Ngabang totaling 190 km, and from Ngabang to Tayan 110 km.
?The transmission lines are expected to be completed in months, so that the Ngabang and Tayan GIs can start operation, the target is this year,? he said.
Djoko said earlier that PLN aims complete construction of a combined 1,856-kilometer circuit of new transmission lines with capacity of 150 kV in Kalimantan this year.
