The 55 MW Tanjung Kasam coal-fired power plant, which supplies electricity to the Batam and Bintan islands in Riau Islands Province, is currently undergoing routine maintenance, which is expected to last for two weeks ending November 27.
Benny Eka, Coporate Communications at bright PLN Batam, said in a statement that the routine maintenance of the power plant will not disrupt power supply to its customers as long as other power plants in the region run normally.
He said that installed capacity in the Batam and Bintan islands region currently stand at 430 MW, with peak load at 370 MW, which translates to excess capacity of about 60 MW.
