PLN conducts trial operation of coal-fired power plant in Flores

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN is currently conducting trial operation of the second unit of a 2x7 MW coal-fired power plant in Ropa, Ende Regency on Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara Province.
PLN said as reported by Antara Sunday that the new power plant will help increase power supply in Ende Regency, where electrification ratio is still quite low at 49 percent as remote areas have yet to receive electricity supply.
The utility firm said it will also develop new medium-voltage and low-voltage transmission lines as well as substations in Ende.
The electricity from the new power plant will be connected with other neighboring regencies on the Flores Island, it added. (*)
