PLN: Construction of Grati power plant to start soon

State-owned electricity company PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) hopes construction of a 450 MW combined cycle Grati power plant (peaker) extension project in Pasuruan, East Java, to start soon.

The company said in a statement that PLN had on June 19 signed the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the project with a consortium comprising of Samsung C&T Corp, Lotte E&C Co Ltd, and PT Hutama Karya.

PLN said that construction process of the gas and steam-fired power plant is expected to be completed within 26 months. The power plant will act as peaker plant in the Java-Bali electricity system.

The Grati power plant comprises of two blocks, with gas to be supplied from Santos? Oyong and Wortel wells.
