State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said that the planned Muara Karang extra high voltage gas insulated substation (GISTET) project in North Jakarta with capacity of 500 kV is currently in tender process, hoping it could be completed later this year for construction to start immediately.
?It (the project) is still in tender process, hopefully it could be concluded later this year, so that construction can start immediately,? PLN Business Director for West Java Region, Murtaqi Syamsuddin told Petromindo.com over the weekend.
The Muara Karang GISTET forms part of a number of new substations being developed by PLN to strengthen the electricity system in the Greater Jakarta region.
According to PLN, the electricity system in the Greater Jakarta region is currently supported by 11 substations with load over 80 percent. ?We?ll accelerate the construction of electricity infrastructures including power plants, transmission, and substations,? he said.
