PLN, Crompton Greaves to set up switchgear manufacturing plant

State-owned electricity company PT PLN plans to set up a switchgear manufacturing plant to help reduce import of equipment, Kontan reported on Friday.
The paper quoted Director of Planning and Development at PLN, Murtaqi Syamsudin as saying that company subsidiary PT PLN Enjiniring has reached an agreement with India?s Crompton Greaves Ltd to set up joint venture company called PT Compton Prima Switchgear Indonesia, which will build a US$24 million switchgear manufacturing plant.
He said that the plant will be located in Cikande, Tangerang. Aside from being absorbed by PLN, the output will also be exported to markets in Asia, he added. (*)
