PLN cuts electricity tariffs for April

Public utility PT Perusahaan Lisrik Negara (PLN) (Persero) announced on Friday a cut in electricity tariffs by between Rp 8 and Rp 12 per kWh, citing the stability of rupiah, oil price and low inflation as the reasons.

The local currency strengthened to Rp 13,516 in March from Rp 13,889 in February against the US dollar. The Indonesia Crude Price (ICP) rose to $28.9 per barrel in February from $27.49 in January. Inflation slipped to 0.09 percent in February from 0.51 percent in January, the firm said in a statement.

Tariff for low-voltage costumer group stands at Rp 1343/kWh in April, down by Rp 12 from Rp 1355/kWh in March. The group includes:

1. Small house (R1/1300 VA)

2. Small house (R1/2200 VA)

3. Medium house (R2/3500-5500 VA)

4. Big house (R3/6600 VA and above

5. Medium business (B2/6600 VA-200 kVA)

6. Medium government (P1/6600 VA-200 kVA)

7. Street lights P3

Tariff for medium-voltage customer group stands at Rp 1033/kWh in April, down by Rp 9 from Rp 1,042/kWh in March. This group includes:

8. Big business (B3/above 200 kVA)

9. Medium industry (I3/above 200 kVA)

10. Big government (P2/ above 200 kVA)

Tariff for high-voltage customer group stands at Rp 925/kWh in April, down Rp 8 from Rp 933/kWh in March. The group includes:

11. Large-scale industry (I4/above 30 MVA)
