PLN cuts power tariff for February 1, 2016

State owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) announced on Monday tariff cuts for 12 groups of customers for this month.

The tariff cuts aim to ease financial burdens in the sectors that drive the economy, the firm said in a statement.

Power tariff for low-voltage customers is down from Rp 1,409.16/kWh in January to Rp 1,392.12/kWh in February. Groups of customers in this category are as follows:
- R-1 household with voltage of 1300 Volt Ampere (VA)
- R-1 household with 2200 VA voltage
- R-2 household with 3500-5.500 VA voltage
- R3 household with 6600 VA voltage
- B-2 Business with 6600VA-200 kilo Volt Ampere (kVA) voltage
- P-1 Governmental Office with 6600 VA-200 kVA voltage
- P-3 Public Street

Tariff for medium voltage customers drops from 1,083.92/kWh to Rp 1,070.82/kWh. Groups of customers in this category are as follows:
- B-3 Business with 200 kVA voltage
- I-3 Industry with > 200 kVA voltage
- P-2 Governmental Office with >200 kVA voltage

Tariff for high voltage customers has declined from Rp 970.35/kWh to Rp 958.62/kWh. Customers of this category is I-4 Industry with >30.000 kVA voltage.

Meawhile, tariff for L group is down from Rp 1,592.70 /kWh to Rp 1,573.44/kWh.

PLN?s Commerce Division Head Benny Marbun said the main factor behind the decrease in tariff is the drop in Indonesian Crude Price (ICP) to $35.47 in December 2015 from $41.44 previously. Other factors influencing power tariff are the exchange rate of the rupiah against the US dollar and inflation. The US dollar rose to Rp 13,855 in December 2015, from Rp 13,673, while inflation rose to 0.96 percent from 0.21 percent.
