The National Police has arrested a deputy director at state-owned electricity firm PT PLN Agus Darnadi for his alleged involvement in corruption in the purchase of a combined cycle generating set for the Borang power plant in South Sumatra, the Koran Tempo reported Saturday.

?We believe that there are other officials involved in this case and we will call them for the investigation,? a police source was quoted by the daily as saying on Friday.

PLN corporate secretary Ario Subijoko told the daily that he was not aware about the detention.

Meanwhile, a source at the company said the detention might be connected on the purchasing of a 20-megawatt mobile generating set to support the conduction of the PON XVI sport event in South Sumatra last year.

May be the police believe that there is something wrong on the procurement transaction, the source added. (*)
