PLN develops four gas-engine power plants in Bintan

State-owned electricity company PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is currently in the process of developing four gas-engine power plants in Bintang and Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands Province, Kompas reported on Monday.

The paper quoted Director for Commercial and Business Development at PLN Batam, Ardian Chalid as saying that the new power plants are being developed in four areas including in Kijang, Bintan, Dompak, and Tanjung Pinang.

The power plant in Kijang has a capacity 9 MW, while in three other islands have combined capacity of 9 MW. No further details were provided.

Riau Islands Governor Muhammad Sani said that the once completed, the new gas-engine power plant will increase power supply in the Bintang-Tanjung Paning system. (*)
