State-owned electricity company PT PLN has dropped three mine mouth power plant projects and a transmission line project from the new 2016-2025 electricity procurement business plans (RUPTL) which was submitted to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for approval on Friday, according to a source.

?Four projects that have been canceled from the electricity blueprint are the South Sumatra 8 mine mouth power plant, South Sumatra 9 mine mouth power plant, South Sumatra 10 mine mouth power plant, and the high voltage direct current transmission/HVDC,? the source told Petromnindo.com Monday.

The source added that Head of Planning Division at PLN M. Ikbal Nur have tendered resignation due to his disagreement over the decision to drop the projects from the RUPTL.

A consortium of IDX-listed coal giant PT Bukit Asam Tbk and China Huadian Hong Kong Co Ltd reportedly has started construction of the South Sumatra 8 project, while tender process for the two other power plant projects are in progress.
