PT Prima Layanan Nasional Enjiniring (PLN-E), a subsidiary of state utility PT PLN, and Samsung C&T Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on training and knowledge sharing on engineering and networking system.

The company said in a press statement on Tuesday that the MoU was signed on Monday at the PLN headquarters in Jakarta by PLN-E President Director Zainal Abidin Sihite and Head of SEA Regional HQ Samsung C&T Corporation Paul Shin.

The signing ceremony was also attended by PLN President Director Nur Pamudji and CEO Samsung C&T Singapore Yeon Joo Jung.

According to Zainal Abidin Sihite, PLN-E is preparing itself to involve in the business of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC).

?Under the agreement, we?ll send our engineers to be trained in their company. Next month (November) there will be 10 engineers of PLN-E to be trained in Singapore. PLN-E will also take part in tenders of international projects with Samsung,? he said.

Meanwhile, Edward Siagian, Marketing and Business Development Director of PLN-E, said that the agreement would last for a year, but it is possible to be extended after an evaluation of the cooperation.

"As a company we?re still small, but we think big. We aim to become a leading company in Asia and Samsung, which is already big, can help us to become a big company in Asia. We?ll learn with them,? he said.

For Samsung, the cooperation will stand as a gate to enter the continually growing business of electricity in Indonesia.
