State-owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has earned Rp 60 trillion from its 33.2 million consumers across the country in 2004, the Harian Ekonomi Neraca newspaper reported in its Tuesday edition.
Though it earned a huge amount in 2004, PLN still lost 12 percent of its electricity, which is equivalent to around Rp 72 billion, the company’s director of customer service and business Sunggu Anwar Aritonang said.
But it is an improvement in compare to the total loss of 17.44 percent in January 2004. PLN is planning to cut the figure to 9.8 percent in 2005 from the 12 percent in 2004, Anwar said.
Anwar claimed PLN has succeeded in improving its services to its customers albeit some problems like outages in several areas.(*)
