The 100 MW PLTG Gorontalo gas turbine power plant in Pohuwatu district, Gorontalo province, which is owned by state owned electricity firm PT Persuahaan Lisrik Negara (PLN) (Persero), will get a supply of gas from Wasambo (Walanga Sambisambi Bone) field in Sengkang, according to an official of PLN.

?According to allocation letter from Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, PLTG Gorontalo will be supplied with LNG from the Wasambo (Walanga Sambisambi Bone) field in Sengkang at a maximum volume of 70 bbtud,? Head of Gas and Oil Fuel Division at PLN Chairani Rachmatullah said to Petromindo.com.

The gas from the field will be processed into LNG at the Sengkang LNG plant in South Sulawesi, which is now under construction by ASX-listed Energy World Corporation (EWC).

Chairani said EWC has informed that the LNG plant will start producing at the end of this year.

Last March, EWC announced that there were some delays in the development of its Sengkang LNG plant project, the reason it has postponed its on-stream schedule from the initial plan of 2015 to this year.

?We had experienced some delays in the project development timetable due to the time delay in gas allocation and the subsequent impact on the time to close on the project financing for the transaction, which also requires us to secure on offtake for the LNG,? EWC said earlier.

The gas allocation for the Wasambo gas to be utilized for the Sengkang LNG Project was granted on October 20, 2015.

?Recently, good progress has been made for the initial LNG offtake discussion which are ongoing with PLN, and when these have been concluded, we can close out our project financing discussions,? the company said.

?Subject to these events, we anticipate to complete the construction of the first train and associated works and undertake commissioning and commence operations within this calendar year ending 31 December 2016,? EWC added.

PLN reported earlier that PLTG Gorontalo will consist of four units with capacity of 25 MW each. The electricity from the power plant will be connected to power grid system in Gorontalo and North Sulawesi. The power plant is equipped with four turbines type TM2500 with capacity of 25 MW each, produced by General Electric (GE).
