PLN extends deadline for fuel supply tender

State electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said that its ongoing tender for the supply of one million kiloliters of High Speed Diesel (HSD) to the company, scheduled to end on March 5, would be extended until March 12, 2007.

PLN?s vice chairman of the fuel supply committee Widayanto said in Jakarta late last week that PLN was willing to extend the tender deadline to give opportunity for the participating bidders to complete their required documents. ?We want to get the best result,? he said.

He said that bidders proposed the extension of the tender deadline formally on February 19 and based on careful consideration, PLN decided to meet their request.

Up till the deadline for taking prequalification document by the end of last week, as many as 46 companies had taken the required document.

According to Widayanto, state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina is not included in the 46 bidders as the company has passed the prequalification phase and will join the bidding price stage.

PLN would give a minimum one-year fuel supply contract to the winners, he said. The winners will be announced by the end of May 2007. (godang)
