PLN eyes FTP-1 completion by next year

The power plant projects developed under the first phase 10,000 MW fast-track program (FTP-1) has installed 7,000 MW so far, with completion of all projects slated for 2014, according to state utility firm PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

"We ensure that the overall project of 10,000 MW FTP-1 will be completed in 2014," said President Director Nur Pamudji in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Nur acknowledged that the development of FTP-1 project has been running behind the initial schedule, as it has encountered many technical problems, including the poor quality of some of equipment supplied and developed by some China's contractors.

On average, he added, the poor quality equipment existed in a small plant with a capacity of 300 MW or below.

"For above 300 MW, the equipment are fairly good," said Nur.
