State Electricity Company PT. PLN said that the company consumed 10.4 million tons of coal during the first quarter of 2012 for its power plants, Head of Coal Divison of PLN, Helmi Najamudin told Petromindo.com.
He said that up to now PLN has consumed about 18.2 million tons from the 57,3 million tons total target of coal consumption set for 2012.
"Our coal's stock is safe, we have stock for about 25 days," Helmi said, adding that though the coal market is weakening, it gives little impact for PLN's coal supply and prices.
"Because we purchase the coal at prices in accordance with the national coal price index (HBA) at the fourth quarter of the previous year (2011), so the declining of coal prices doesn't affect PLN," he said.
