PLN hopes gas supply from FSRU will be stable

State utility PT PLN hopes that gas supply from the floating storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU) in Jakarta bay to its power plants in Muara Karang and Tanjung Priok will stabilize at 165 mmscfd after the arrival of one more cargoe on June 24 or 27.
?Now there is no problem with the gas supply as the power plants are still in a stage of commissioning. But after commissioning, we hope that the gas supply will stabilize at 165 mmscfdd,? PLN Fuel Oil and Gas Division Head M.Suryadi Mardjoeki told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Tuesday.
?They will supply one more cargo on June 24 or 27. After that we hope PT Nusantara Regas will regularly supply it in every two weeks,? he noted.
The FSRU in Jakarta bay is owned and operated by PT Nusantara Regas, a subsidiary of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina and gas distributor PT PGN.
PT Nusantara Regas President Director Hendra Jaya said that since the arrival of the first shipment of gas on May 24, gas to PLN had been supplied at 60 mmscfd.
?After the first arrival on May 24, gas channeled to PLN has been at an average of 60 mmscfd although the FSRU is still in a stage of start up and commsioning. In such situation gas supply cannot be stable. It?s possible to be on and off. We still need to conduct tests of equipment. But we?ll try to accommodate the need of PLN to not experience zero supply that can result in stoppage of its plants,? he said.
He said that his company could supply PLN?s gas need up to 210 bbtud for this year.
