State-owned electricity company PLN said it will request for four cargoes of LNG supply per year from the Mahakam gas block if there?s extra supply in light of new production coming from South Mahakam.

PLN will use the extra supply from Mahakam to help fuel three power plants in East Kalimantan including Tj Batu, Sambera and Batakan Balikpapan.

?If there will be extra allocation from Mahakam, we?re seeking for four cargoes of LNG per year,? Head of Fuel and Gas Division at PLN, Suryadi Mardjoeki told Petromindo.com Thursday.

Suryadi said he had been informed that there will be additional production at Mahakam coming from South Mahakam in East Kalimantan.

?I?ll be happy if there could be additional LNG (supply) from Mahakam. If there?s additional supply, then we?ll be ready to develop the storage and regasification facility together with Perta Daya Gas,? he said.
