State-owned electricity firm PT PLN hopes to be able to sign this month a power purchase agreement for the planned 1x1,600 MW PLTGU Jawa-1 combined-cycle power plant project with the winning bidder of the project, a consortium comprising of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, Marubeni and Sojitz Corporation, Koran Tempo reported on Wednesday.
?(The PPA) will be signed mid-December,? Supangkat Iwan Santoso, PLN Procurement Director told the paper.
He urged the consortium to quickly set up a joint venture company for the planned project, and to prepare the required 30-ha land in Cibatu Baru, West Java.
The consortium will deploy the latest gas turbine technology from GE for the power plant project, while construction will be carried out by Samsung C&T, Iwan said.
He said that the estimated US$2 billion power plant project is expected to be completed and ready for operation in 2019.
The PLTGU Jawa-1 power plant will require gas supply of up to 250 mmscfd. (*)
