PLN in talks with Kideco, Adaro and Berau on coal prices

State electricity company PT Perusahaaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero) is currently negotiating coal price which will be supplied by another six coal contract of work (CCoW) holders.

The CCoW coal miners include PT Kideco Jaya Agung, PT Adaro Indonesia and PT Berau Coal, PLN spokesman Bambang Dwiyanto said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Bambang said that the negotiations with the six coal miners were part of the state electricity company?s efforts to secure a long-term supply for its coal-fired power plants.

But he did not give the detail about volume to be supplied by the six miners and also the dateline of the negotiation.

He said that PLN had just completed a negotiation with PT Arutmin Indonesia, which also CCoW holder on the coal supply for 2011. The two companies agreed to use the government?s guideline in the pricing for 7.2 million tons of coal to be supplied by Arutmin.

The coal will be supplied to newly operated coal-fired power plants under 10,000 MW fast track program PLTU Labuan in Banten, PLTU Suralaya Baru in Banten, PLTU Lontar in Banten, PLTU Indramayu in West Java, PLTU Rembang in Central Java, PLTU Pacitan and PLTU Paiton in East Java. These power plants have combined capacity of 4,500 MW. (bernard)
