State-owned electricity firm PT PLN confirmed Tuesday that the company was in talks with South Kalimantan-based coal producers, PT Adaro Indonesia and PT Jorong Barutama Greston, for coal supply to the 2 x 300 MW Cilacap coal-fired power plant in Central Java.
?Around 6,000 tons of coal per hour will be needed to fuel the operation of Cilacap power plant,? PLN president Eddie Widiono told reporters.
The US$562 million Cilacap power plant is owned and operated by PT Sumber Segara Primadaya (SSP). The first unit of power plant is expected to start supplying electricity to the Java-Bali grid in January next year.
PLN director Ali Herman Ibrahim earlier said the power plant would need around 2 million tons coal per annum when fully operated, with a coal calorific value ranging from 5,000 to 5,500 kkal/kg. (dino)
