PLN inaugurates Sembakung power plant in N. Kalimantan

State-owned electricity company PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) inaugurated on Monday the operation an 8 MW gas-fired power plant on Sembakung Island, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan. The plan will replace the 6 MW diesel-fired power plant in Nunukan.

At the same ceremony, a 37 km under water cable was also inaugurated, which will be used to distribute the electricity to consumers in Nunukan and Sebatik areas. ?After the Nunukan diesel-fired power plant stop operating, there will be no more noise in Nunukan,? said Bagiyo Riawan, Director of Primary Energy and Strategic Supplies at PLN.
