PLN inaugurates two new substations in S. Sumatra

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN officially inaugurated on Wednesday two new power substations called New Jakabaring and Gandus in South Sumatra to increase reliability of electricity supply particularly in provincial capital of Palembang ahead of the 2018 Asian Games.

PLN Director of Business for Sumatra Region, Amir Rosidin said in a statement that the two new substations will facilitate power supply for the planned light rail train (LRT) and the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Jakabaring Sport Center.

In addition to the substations, PLN also inaugurated two 150 kV Phi Incomer transmission lines.

The 150 kV New Jakabaring substation is located in Rambutan District of Banyuasin Regency. Construction started in 2013 and started operation in October of this year. The substation has a transformer with capacity of 1x60 MVA.

Meanwhile, the 150 kV Gandus substation is located in Ilir Barat I District, Palembang. Construction started in 2013, and started operation in November. The substation has transformers with capacity of 1x30 MVA and 1x60 MVA.
