The 155 MW PLTMG Bangkanai gas engine power plant is expected to be able to increase its absorption of gas from the Kerendan gas field in Bangkanai block, Central Kalimantan Province, to the contracted volume of 20 mmscfd in April of this year, according to UK-based firm Ophir Energy plc.
?PLN (which owns the PLTMG Bangkanai) currently absorbs 16 mmscfd (of gas from Kerendan),? said Anggoro Kasyanto, President Director of Ophir Energy Indonesia to Petromnindo.com on Monday.
Kerendan Gas Plant Facility (KGPF) located at Kerendan Village, Lahei District of North Barito, Central Kalimantan, started last year partial gas supply to the Bangkanai PLTMG.
Ophir Indonesia (Bangkanai) Ltd holds a 70 percent operating interest in the Kerendan field, Bangkanai PSC, and PT Saka Bangkanai Klemantan holds a 30 percent equity interest.
Elsewhere, Anggoro said Ophir is currently conducting 3D seismic survey at the block to find additional gas reserves. He expected the data acquisition to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year given the remote location with minimum infrastructure facilities.
