PLN Indonesia Power, a power generation unit of state electricity firm PT PLN (Persero) has announced plans to start operations for the 250-megawatt (MW) Kalimantan Barat-1 combined cycle power plant (PLTGU) in 2026. The project, located in Ketapang regency, West Kalimantan, is designed to strengthen energy security in West Kalimantan and provide reliable power for the region's industrial and residential needs.
The project, a key part of the 2025-2034 National Strategic Projects (RUPTL), will utilize advanced gas and steam turbine technology to deliver a stable and sustainable energy supply. The plant will complement the existing 150-kilovolt (kV) high-voltage transmission network connecting Kendawangan, Sukamara, and Ketapang, ensuring greater efficiency and reliability in the regional electricity grid.
