PLN, Indramayu administration sign agreement to support power plant project

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN signed on Monday an agreement with the Indramayu Regency administration in West Java Province, under which the local government would support the utility company?s plan to develop a 2x1,000 MW coal-fired power plant located in the regency, and in return PLN would provide various forms of assistance and programs to support the local economy and villagers.
Indramayu Regent Anna Sophanah said in a statement that under the agreement, PLN would employ local manpower in the planned project in accordance with the PLN requirement, provide training for local human resources so as to meet PLN standard, provide assistance to villagers whose economic activities will be negatively affected by the project, implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, and provide opportunities for local businesses to support the project.
The agreement also covers the aspect of environmental management, and assistance to develop local infrastructure such as roads and irrigation facilities.
PLN said in the statement that land acquisition for the planned project has been completed. It did not say when the project will start construction and when will be completed.
