PLN installs gas turbines at PLTGU Jawa-2 project

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN installed on Tuesday gas turbines for the 880 MW PLTGU Jawa-2 combined cycle power plant project in North Jakarta.

Bambang Bayu Adji, Manager for Communications, Legal and Land Affairs at PLN Western Part of Java Region, said that the gas turbines will start commercial operations in 2018. ?Progress of physical construction of the project has reached 53 percent,? he said.

He added that the M701F gas turbines are supplied by Japanese firm Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Ltd. (MHPS). EPC contractor of the project, located at the premises of the Tanjung Priok power plant in North Jakarta, is a consortium of Mitsubishi Corporation and PT Wasa Mitra Engineering.

Investment for the project is estimated at Rp 6.2 trillion, of which 70 percent is financed by Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and the remaining 30 percent financed by PLN internal fund.
