State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said it has installed a new 5 MW diesel-fired power plant in Selat Lampa, Natuna Regency, Riau Islands Province, to increase electricity supply for local fish processing and storage industry.

PLN said in a statement on Sunday that the company is now finalizing construction of the required new transmission line, which hopefully could be completed in September, thus allowing the transmission of additional electricity supply in Selat Lampa, an integrated fishing industry zone.

PLN previously supplied electricity for the local industry and government buildings from a 1 MW diesel-fired plant.
