PLN installs submarine cable in Bali strait

State-owned power company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) will resume the installation of submarine power cables in the Strait of Bali in March this year after it being temporarily suspended recently due to bad weather, Tempo Interactive.com reported.

Anwar, Project Planning Manager for Main Power Plants in Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara, said the installation began in January 2013, but was topped due to bad weather. ?The installation works will be resumed in March,:? he said, adding that the 2.6-kilometer project would cost up to Rp 400 billion.

Anwar said that the submarine cables will increase Bali Island's power supply by 200 Megawatts (MW). "We expect the cable to begin operation this year," he said on Monday.(*)
